Our speaker, Sarah Norman, joined Friends for Youth in 2015 and manages the organization’s mentoring programs. Previously, Sarah worked with youth and community development programs in Los Angeles and Eugene, Oregon. She is passionate about building opportunities for underserved youth and families that foster the power of mentoring. In 2016, she developed Friends for Youth's Connect program to meet the needs of incoming freshmen who face socioeconomic obstacles to thriving in high school. Connect creates a web of support for students and provides opportunities to develop mentors' and mentees’ leadership skills. This Fall Connect will serve 8th-10th graders at Sequoia High School, Hoover Community School and McKinley Institute of Technology. Sarah is excited to continue to grow the mentoring network in the Peninsula.
